Affirmations are a practice I have been working with for a few years and have only deepened my practice since I started recording them for my guided meditation podcast.
Though I create them to share with my followers, I also listen to them myself and often create them based on what I’m going through on a personal basis and what I’m wanting to call into my life.
Listening to your own recorded voice is the optimal way to practice affirmations, so having a guided meditation podcast inspires me to create them just as I want and need them, and I share them to inspire others.
So What Are Affirmations and How Do They Work?
Affirmations are statements we repeat to ourselves that help to focus our thoughts on what we want to achieve. They work by tapping into the power of our subconscious mind.
It's responsible for a lot of our behaviors and habitual patterns. Affirmations help us to reprogram the subconscious mind, and over time, this will result in positive change in our lives.
Crafting Your Affirmations
If you’ve never written personal affirmations before, take a moment to reflect on what you want to call into your life. Listening to my guided meditation podcast can be a great resource as I have many different affirmation meditations. Find something that resonates with you and form a few of your own.
It starts with the belief that you are worthy of all good things. Write down a list of all the good things that you want for yourself.
Then, take your time to craft powerful and specific affirmations based on that list. Be sure to use the present tense, and make sure your affirmations feel true for you. You might want to repeat them out loud every day for best effect.
Here are a few examples to get you started:
I am in control of my life and my destiny
I am happy and grateful for all the good in my life
I am strong, capable and confident
I am open to new and wonderful experiences
Harnessing the Power of Affirmations
Affirmations are a great way to change your negative thinking patterns into positive ones. And when you really start harnessing the power of affirmations you'll be amazed at the positive change in your life.
And it's easy to do. Just start by repeating a positive statement about yourself out loud, or in your head, on a daily basis. Believe and feeling each affirmation to be true and happening in the present moment.
Some people find it helpful to write down their affirmations and keep them in a place where they can see them every day. This will help you to really absorb their power and manifest the change you desire. Record your voice into your phone and set background music to create your own affirmation meditation that you can listen to.
When you hear your own voice saying the affirmations, it’s like your own subconscious speaking to you and is the most profound way to practice affirmations.
Remember, the more positive and believable your affirmations are, the more successful you'll be at manifesting change in your life.
If you’re not quite ready to record them, my guided affirmation meditations are always there to support you.

Announce Your Intentions and Affirmations
Loud and Clear
It takes a lot of dedicated practice with affirmations and to ingrain these new thought patterns into your brain.
Speaking affirmations out loud is especially important. Even if it feels awkward or cheesy at first, just give it a try. The more time and energy we dedicate to speaking our affirmations out loud, the more they will become reality.
You can also write them down or record yourself saying them. Writing down or recording them allows you to review your affirmations whenever you want and really start to ingrain them into your subconscious so that they become second nature!
Using Affirmations to Change Negative Mental Habits
Have you ever caught yourself in a negative cycle? You think a thought, and then it leads to another, and then another. It feels like a roller coaster sometimes and it can be tricky to break our of this loop.
Affirmations can serve as an anchor when the mind is in a state of anxiety and help to create positive thought patterns.
When you start to recognize the inner voice of these negative patterns, actively state an affirmation out loud that supports where you want to go instead. Use words that energize you, excite you, and have the power to create change.
Creating a Practice Around Affirmations
The trick to making affirmations work is to find a way to make them a part of your life. The most effective way to do this is to develop a consistent practice. Choose a time of day and dedicate yourself to repeating affirmations that are meaningful for you.
A great way to start is by listening to my guided affirmation meditations or use your own recorded versions.
Doing this can help keep you focused and make sure that the affirmations stick in your mind even after the meditation session ends. You can also write out your favorite affirmations and post them somewhere visible, such as in a notebook or on your mirror. This will help remind you throughout the day that you can choose positive thoughts and create positive experiences for yourself.
Affirmations are a way to change your life for the better by changing the way you speak to yourself. If you’re constantly putting yourself down, you’re going to have a hard time achieving your goals. But if you start affirming your greatness, you can start to see real change in your life. Affirmations don’t have to be long or complicated, but they should be something that you really believe in.
